Course overview
The Blairmore & Strone course is a mixture of hilly and flatter parkland which presents quite a challenge despite its relatively short length of 2,144 yards over nine holes. Large areas of deep rough border most fairways, demanding precision from the tee. The undulating terrain tests every aspect of your game, while the stunning views of the Firth of Clyde more than compensate for any dropped shots.

Our story
The course at Blairmore and Strone was laid out in 1896, carved into the hillside above the village to make the most of its dramatic setting. From the very beginning it was shaped to work with the natural landscape — and the steep ground above Strone gave its makers plenty to work with.
More than 125 years on, the course remains a testament to that approach: a par-heath layout that rewards precision, punishes waywardness, and delivers one of the most scenic rounds in Argyll at every visit.
The nine-hole course was laid out on the steep hillside above Strone — a layout that remains largely unchanged to this day.
The club flourished during the golden age of Scottish golf, attracting players from Dunoon and across Argyll, many arriving by steam ferry across the Clyde.
Through the mid-20th century the club became central to village life in Strone and Blairmore, building the warm and close-knit membership it is still known for today.
Open to all visitors, the course continues to delight golfers with its blend of scenic beauty, historic character, challenging holes, and genuine Scottish hospitality.
"A park-heath layout that turns a steep hillside into a fair, fun, and fiercely memorable round for golfers of all abilities."Blairmore & Strone Golf Club · 1896
